Proxy: Web Videos

Hello,

how do I set up Burp so that clients can watch web videos like .mp4 files without burp trying to download the whole file first (streaming responses is not really an option). It either takes very long to buffer or the videos don't play at all.
Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Max, unfortunately, Streaming Responses is the only mechanism within Burp Suite which would give you some functionality to avoid this. https://portswigger.net/burp/documentation/desktop/options/http

Can you provide some more context as to why Streaming Responses is not an option?

That is because the URL needs to be added manually to Streaming Responses all the time. And every multimedia file has a different URL. Especially with m3u8 + ts where the URL changes for every ts segment. It would be great if multimedia files would be added to Streaming Responses automatically or passed through to client.

Max, you can configure Streaming Responses with Regex pattern matching to determine if the URL’s should be streamed. So if the URLs follow a pattern you could set up a rule to encompass all of the different multimedia files.
