force update check

Already posted here and then noticed, this is the new way to do it.

Current situation/problem:
Burp only checks for new versions on startup. So when you can only connect to the internet via a proxy and it is not entered on start, the update check will fail. The only way to recheck for an update is to enter the proxy, close and restart burp. So it would be great to have a Submenu under Help like "Check for updates".

I like the automatic updating because it does not require to login to the site and downloading everything manually.

Thanks for the feature request. We’ll look into adding a manual check for udpates, which you can use if you didn’t have suitable Internet connectivity during startup.

Is there a way to force an update when a new version is released? We get the notice at the login about the new version and it would be a nice feature to force the update. Thanks.

If you’re already running Burp and want to update to a new version, just close down your current instance and restart it. You’ll be prompted on startup to perform the update. You’ll need to close your original instance of Burp in any event, so the order you do this shouldn’t cause any issues.

We are getting prompted to update to the newest version when we first open the instance. We wanted to know if Burp can be updated automatically instead being prompted to install the new version manually.

There isn’t currently an option to auto-update without user interaction. We’ll think about whether this would be useful to add, thanks.

It would be nice to have a configuration setting that prevents the check for updates.
