I encountered the issue of reset connection

jason | Last updated: Jan 14, 2016 09:22AM UTC

I have experienced "reset connect" from Proxy option. In the way, I try every possible solution but just can't get rid of it. Plus, this error message appeared after I have scanned certain host. So what should I do.

If this issue is affecting only one host, does it also only occur for HTTPS connections? If so, have you tried changing the SSL-related options at Options / SSL / SSL negotiation?

Yes, it only affects one host but it doesnt occur when try HTTPS connection.

So this only affects non-SSL traffic to a single host? Does everything work as expected when you make the same requests directly using your browser (not via Burp)?

Yes, It correctly works on normal browser without Burp

Please can you provide the full error message that you are seeing when the connection is reset, and where it appears (Burp alerts, in your browser, etc.)? Thanks.

browser:title "Error" contend: "connection reset" burp:" connection reset " from "proxy" just it. there is no more detail available

This sounds rather unusual. Some possible things to consider: 1. Do you normally use a LAN proxy to access this host? If so, it might have network access to the host but you do not. 2. Is it using a "normal" web server or something custom / unusual?

Same problem here. I've sent a support ticket regarding this. Details are as follows: SSL error – Connection Reset when visiting a system over SSL. I can’t reach the site «actio.no» over SSL using Burp. I’ve tested with x86 versions of Chrome and Firefox. I’ve also tested Edge and Internet Explorer. I am running Java version: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_73\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "C:\Users\Chris\gd\Apps\burpsuite\burpsuite_pro_v1.6.37.jar" I've also tried x64 bit version of Java. Also tried different java startup params such as: -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Dhttps.protocols="TLSv1"

It works when I run Burp Suite on Linux, and I proxy through my Linux instead. Temporary fix though.

We've tested a connection to this host over SSL, and we're not seeing any problems when connecting via Burp. For what it's worth, I tested using Burp 1.6.37 on OS X 10.9.5 with 1.7.0_71-b14. It's possible the problem was caused by an inability to find a common set of SSL ciphers/protocols between your version of Java and the server, altough the server doesn't appear to be using anything exotic.

Hi Jason, I had the same problem that I used Proxy add-on on browser like FoxyProxy. Maybe you should disable it.
