Display colors for Background and Font

Is it possible to change the display background to darker theme, e.g. black or dark grey. I suffer from Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome, so i find difficult to read from white background. I would prefer to change the font color to white and the background to dark grey or black, i know I'm in the minority in this case but it is still worth a shot.

It isn't currently possible to configure this, sorry. If enough people request the feature we will look into supporting it. In the meantime, I wonder if there are any accessibility tools that apply an application- or system-wide filter to convert bright colors to something else?

I also would like this feature. I know it sounds pointless but I spend hours on end using Burp Suite everyday and it would be nice to have some flavor in the GUI.

Thanks for the feedback. This is on our backlog and the +1s are noted. It would theoretically be possible for an extension to do this. An ITab implementation returns a Swing component that gets connected to the parent tab. You could use getParent() repeatedly to get the root window. From there you could iterate through all the components and customize them.

Sorry to hear you're having this trouble. While this is on our long-term plan, it's non-trivial, and may not happen before the UI overhaul we have planned. In the meantime, have you tried a screen inverter? There are a few around, like this: - http://arcanesanctum.net/negativescreen/

+1 out of need. Using the tool pretty regularly. Eyes recently took a turn for the worse almost overnight. Believe it or not, for a number of us, looking at a white background is literally like staring into the sun (no exaggeration). I bought myself an eye patch and a magnifying glass to try to break through glare just to get job done. Went from really enjoying using the tool to dreading the thought of it (or any other bare bones java gui with plain white background). Switch to a black background and white text, and it's like it never happened. Literally the difference between seeing and not-seeing. Thanks for adding to backlog. Would be very happy to see it bumped up the queue.

I would love a Twitter like "night mode" for Burp. The white background really tires my eyes out. From discussion with colleagues in our company quite a few people would really appreciate this feature.

I would love to see the basic feature to create custom appearances for the Burp user interface. These could be exchanged like the Burp extensions. This would allow people to have a darker theme and offer other the option to customise their experience.

Hans - In the latest 2.x beta there is now a Darcular mode that you can access from User options > Display > Look and feel.

+758947239874238 for this feature tbh. I've been staring at these all white screens for ungodly hours at a time for well over half my life which has really taken a toll on my eyes. White backgrounds give me headaches from eye strain after using them for any length of time. PLEASEEEE Portswigger can we haz burp dark mode <3

+1 for me as well. The "Dark Theme" has been a long time coming for a apps. There is movement on this trend (think Outlook 2016, ebook apps, etc.). I use this app both at home and at work - there are ways to invert colors, but a built-in mechanism would be the better choice. Thanks.

Darcula is a big improvement so thanks for that, but the contrast is too weak so it's difficult to pick up the text off the background. I know this wouldn't be supported and would get overwritten each update, but is modifying the theme files in the jar 'allowed' within the user agreement?

There is some third-party software that does this: https://github.com/CoreyD97/BurpThemePatcher This is written by the original author of dark theme, before it was a core Burp feature.

This is one of the main reasons I always use the mate desktop + compiz, even in modern linuxes. I use the mate version of kali. In compiz ccsm there is the option invert colors, disabled by default, but by enabling it and pressing win+n, the current window inverts its colors. Works wonders on burp. You need to have compiz running, by doing compiz --replace. It can be set up as a start up command. It tended to crash when I also had wobbly windows, but disabling them seems to correct the crashes. Hope this helps. Also, mate is much lighter than most desktops, and can be customized a lot
