Settings not saved in project

Neal | Last updated: Jul 08, 2016 10:26AM UTC

I can create a new project and change the options under scanner -> options -> active scanner optimization to Thorough and Normal. However, after closing the project and opening it again, these options are not saved and default to other values. All other options are saved (and yes, I choose to load options saved with project). Tested on two different machines, mac and linux, with the same behavior.

Hi Neal Thanks for your message. The Active Scanner Optimization settings come under project configuration options. Project configuration files contain options relating to the work that is being performed on a particular target application, including: - Everything in the Project options tab. - Non-UI-related options in individual Burp tools, such as Proxy and Scanner. You can use configuration files to manage different Burp configurations for particular tasks. For example, you might need to load a particular configuration when working on a particular client. Or you might create different configurations for different types of scans. You can load and save configuration files in various ways: - From the Burp menu, you can load or save configuration files for all user-level or project-level options. - From individual configuration panels throughout Burp, you can use the "Options" button to load or save the configuration for just that panel. - In the startup wizard, when creating or reopening a project, you can specify a configuration file from which to load project-level options. - When starting Burp from the command line, you can use command line arguments to specify one or more configuration files from which to load project-level options. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

I'm seeing something similar. When I start a new project, I select a file to save it to disk (New project on disk) and then I have a default configuration file that has Active Scanner Optimization is set to "Normal" and I confirm it is set. At the end of the day, I close Burp. The next day when I start Burp back up, I chose to open an existing project and I select the file I started for the test. Then on the next screen, I select to load the configuration file that goes with that project. When I go to lock at Scanner Optimization is set to "Fast". I'm positive I never changed it back to fast and this has been happening every day since I started using the 1.7.03 version. Is this behavior expected or what am I doing wrong? Thank you.

Many thanks - we've reproduced this problem and are looking into the cause. We'll aim to get it fixed in the next minor update.

Just to let you know that we've fixed this issue in the 1.7.04 release. Thanks again for your feedback, and let us know if you identify any other problems.

I saved state for one project but i restore state on the next day , the setting configuration of the target scope, Proxy -> Options, Scanner -> Options are revert back to default configuration. Could you please assist it for this ? If i used the " Load project options" then my "HTTP History" tab became history logging of out-of-scope items is disabled. It is happen in BurpSuite Pro v1.7.29 . The version that i used before v1.7.29 did not have this issue before. In addition, as i see the save state options look a little different with last time as well

State files no longer support saving and reloading of project options. Only project state (site map, Proxy history, etc.) is now included. You can save and reload project options via project configuration files. State files in general are deprecated, and Burp project files should be used instead. This change was made in Burp Suite 1.7.28. - http://releases.portswigger.net/2017/11/1728.html
