Memory Leak

harry_taheem | Last updated: Jan 23, 2017 08:50PM UTC

Hello, I wanted to chime in to see if there is a possible memory leak with the newest version of burpsuite. I was running a scan that seemed to have been running for almost 24 hours. I soon realized that burpsuite was hitting the 15GB mark for memory consumption. As soon as I saved my data and closed down burpsuite. My memory usage went back down to about 1.5GB. So, I am now wondering if burpsuite actually uses that much memory. Or if there is some sort of leak or issue? You can contact me if needed. Hi Harry Thanks for your message. This issue is still sitting in our current focus tasks. Would it be possible to answer the following question to help our investigation? Is this a very large or complex application? Are you using an on-disk project? Do you have any extensions installed? Can you give us an indication of the size of the responses, and the type of content they contain? Ideally, a sample of a huge response would be helpful so that we can monitor Burp's performance when processing the response.

Hi Liam, I can send this information over to you. Is there an email or other private method we can use? I rather not post some of the information in the open public. Thanks.
