Bug in Search Windows using openJDK

Alex | Last updated: Feb 16, 2017 12:18AM UTC

Hello dear portswigger team, I have an issue using the Engagement Tools -> Search options. Some times after entering the search word a suggestion window will be created as separate jwindow objects (grey box and white box with digit 1 on the screenshot) and will not be killed after the search windows is closed. That means that these additional windows are still open and running after closing the parent search window. If I will manually close these new created jwindow objects that will kill also the main thread of the BurpSuite (the main instance). So I have to wait until the test is finished and before can close these useless windows (jwindows). Could you please verify this BurpSuite behavior? Screenshot: http://imgur.com/a/gEsGk Operating System: Archlinux (64Bit), but the same issue was reproduced on Linux Mint (64Bit) java -version openjdk version "1.8.0_121" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_121-b13) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.121-b13, mixed mode) Best Regards, Alex

Hi Alex We've tried to reproduce this on Linux Mint 17 Qiana using OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_111-b14). So far we've been unable to reproduce the issue. Which version of Linux Mint and Java did you use?

Hello, i confirm i have the same issue with Burp Pro 1.7.27 and this openjdk configuration: $ uname -a Linux apple-sync 4.12.0-kali1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.12.6-1kali5 (2017-08-25) x86_64 GNU/Linux $ java -version openjdk version "1.8.0_144" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_144-8u144-b01-1-b01) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.144-b01, mixed mode) Multiple search windows do not close. On multi-screens for example if the bug appear on screen1 and you move Burp on screen2, at each Burp focus the search window will reappear on screen1. I can provide screenshots for further investigations. Regards,

Hi Alex, Thanks for the further details. Are you using the standalone Jar, or the platform installer? We recommend that Burp is used with the Oracle Java runtime. This is bundled with the platform installer. If your problem persists with Oracle Java, please let us know, including screenshots if possible - and we'll do our best to reproduce and resolve. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.
