Failed to download BApp file

Liou | Last updated: Feb 28, 2017 06:47AM UTC

I try to install SQLiPy and have configured the location of Jython standalone JAR file in Python Environment under the Options tab. But, when installing SQLiPy, I got an error is "Failed to download BApp file". My VM is 32 bit. I am sitting in a corperate network and internet access is avaliable on this machine. Can someone help with it? Thanks.

BApps are downloaded from https://portswigger.net. Do you need to configure a LAN proxy to access the web on your network?

It works after setting up the upstream proxy settings. Thanks.

We tightened certificate validation in Burp 1.7.34 which will cause validation errors if your upstream proxy is a TLS-breaking proxy. To investigate this, go to Project options > Misc > Burp Collaborator Server > Run health check If that results in errors, try enabling "Poll over unencrypted HTTP" the repeating the health check. To resolve this issue, either ask your proxy admin to disable TLS-breaking for portswigger.net or install the proxy certificate into your Java certificate store: - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4325263/how-to-import-a-cer-certificate-into-a-java-keystore

Hi Avi, can you confirm that you can communicate with portswigger.net from your machine on your network through port 443?

Hi I did health check - its perfect - all green there is no proxy used - on direct home internet tried several ISP's but still failed to load Bapp Store

Hi Mike, Yes I can connect to portswigger.net on 443 from my network. btw, i am using burp 2.1.04 pro edition

Avi, Thanks for clarifying that. Do you have performance feedback enabled (User options > Misc > Performance feedback)? If so, could you provide us with your Debug ID?

Avi, unfortunately, I can't see any errors being reported by your Burp Suite installation. Looking at the source code, Burp Suite issues an HTTP request to portswigger.net on port 443 to update its list of BApps on the extender tab, could there be an upstream proxy server that you need to configure?

I could understand if i was using a proxy - the problem herein seems more of system - on the same connection using different system i am able to do all Bapp stuffs - looking bit odd

Avi, have a look and see if you can spot any differences between the two systems. If you need some more help, let us know. You can email us at support@portswigger.net if you want to talk to us directly.

Hi, I'm facing the same issue while trying to installSQLiPy. My debug code is bz9ebtnt7c31swh2psqy:820h. Could you please help troubleshoot?

Ben, PortSwigger Agent | Last updated: Nov 12, 2020 08:19AM UTC

Hi Prashanthi, Do you normally use a proxy server to access the internet? As noted above, Burp will try to communicate with portswigger.net on port 443 in order to download the BApps so this access needs to be in place.
