Intruder tabs not being saved

Robin | Last updated: Nov 27, 2017 12:18PM UTC

Hi Twice I've saved my project, quit the app and when I came back and restored the project the previous intruder tabs were empty. Running version 1.7.29 64 bit on Linux. Robin

Hi Robin, Thanks for your message. Intruder has it's own save mechanism; it doesn't use project files. You need to use "Save attack config" on the Intruder menu. This feature is requested quite often though, so I expect we'll implement it at some point. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

I seem to remember at least the tabs being saved in the past, I know the data from the attacks isn't saved. Am I wrong?

Hi Robin, You've always had to save it using Save Attack Config. I agree this pretty confusing though - we should get this incorporated in Projects. How's planning for SteelCon 2018?

Never realised that, will make sure I do that for any I need to keep from now on. Nothing has happened with SteelCon yet, we will start panicking around February, then work on a cycle of panic and calm till July.

not that it would matter, but +1 vote from me for saving at least attack config for Intruder into Project files:)

For sure, adding this feature would be more than welcome!

Argh, just discovered this! Please include in project files as well, I understand that you can save separately but I would still expect everything to be in the project file as well. Is there anything else major which is not saved?

Any chance of getting this added? You thought it was a good idea in 2017.

Hi Robin, We have this functionality as a feature request in our development backlog. At this current time we are still monitoring the demand for this feature so that we can prioritize our resources accordingly. We will update this thread if we have anymore news to share.

Just responding to add another request for this feature. It's very frustrating to have all your intruder tabs lost when exiting a project.

I cannot think of another feature that has surprised me more with its absence. Intruder tabs are at least as important to a test as Repeater tabs and I wish they would stick around.

Hi Liam, As you can see from the Burp Professional roadmap (available here - https://portswigger.net/burp/pro/roadmap) we are in the middle of a massive overhaul of the Intruder component. Once we have carried this work out then, amongst other improvements, you will be able to persist Intruder data in Burp project files. We will update this thread when we have further news to share about Intruder 2.0.

Hi all, Just to let you know that we have now introduced the new version of Intruder as part of the early adopter version 2021.5. If you have not already seen this there are more details on how Intruder can now be used on the following page: https://portswigger.net/burp/releases/professional-community-2021-5?requestededition=professional
