Burp Scanner stuck at 0%

Joshua | Last updated: Jul 04, 2018 07:17PM UTC

Hi, I am having issues with the burp active scanner. I'm not sure if it is due to the application or not. Here are my symptoms, I start a scan, and the # of requests will build up. To around 20-30 requests. Then all of a sudden, it stops there. The status of completion stays at 0%. I have tried other hosts, and the scans still have the same behavior. I have tried turning my VPN off and on, as well as look at CPU and memory utilization (which this is not a problem at all since Burp is running on it's own dedicated Server). My thread count are at 0%, and I have Normal - Normal Set for Active Scanning optimization. The rest is set at default. Not sure what the issue is. I have Gig Internet as well, so I'm not sure what is causing the slowness. I started my scans about 30 minutes ago, and they've only climbed to about 6%. Any help would be appreciated!

Some questions to help us help you: Do you see any error messages in the Alerts tab? In the Scan queue tab, what is the status of the scan items? Are you able to access the application normally in your browser?

I'm having the exact same issue right now. No Alerts are showing up. Scan Queue Status has remained at 0% for 30+ mins thus far. Only a handful of targets got scanned, the rest got stuck. I can access the application normally in the proxied browser, no problem. Browsing the application populates my Burp Proxy HTTP history, no problem. The fan on my laptop is now perpetually on while Burp is open. I have already tried cancelling the scans and then restarting them. I have already tried closing Burp and reopening the saved project, then restarting the scans. Each time same result, only a handful of targets get scanned the rest get stuck.

Thanks for this report. Do you have performance feedback enabled (User options > Misc > Performance feedback)? If so, could you provide us with your diagnostics (Help > Diagnostics)?

Hi, Is there any update on this? I'm having the same issue as with this post. I tried scanning using Burp version 1.37 and upgraded to Burp suite 2.1 version, however, I still encounter same issue. This applies to all applications I scan. Thank you.

Lady, thanks for this report. Do you have performance feedback enabled (User options > Misc > Performance feedback)? If so, could you provide us with your diagnostics (Help > Diagnostics)? Do you see any errors in the Event log?

Hi, if you look at the Audit Items panel in the details for your scan, can you see what phase it is not able to progress through?
