Blank raw response window & raw request window

Karima | Last updated: Jul 19, 2018 09:40PM UTC

Hello, After updating to burpsuite community v1.7.35, I can't get content of both request & response. The headers are displayed, but both "Raw" and "HTML" are blank in the request & response windows. The render tab is blank too, although the request is executed successfully in the browser. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1MuxdjEkCNlTYOO8BjBo9HwBTN9cQC2M-?usp=sharing Thx, Kari

Thanks for this report. Which version of Java are you using? Does the problem persist when you use the platform installer version of Burp? (Which comes bundled with it's own Java version.) Would it be possible to send us your diagnostics? (Help > Diagnostics). You can send this information to support@portswigger.net.

Tried with different java version but none worked.

I am experiencing the same issue. This appears to be a version issue or a change in default configuration in version 1.7.28 of the free/community edition. With default setup 1.7.27 and down has data in the raw view, 1.7.28 and up do not. This is regardless of the official package or open-jdk jre 8/9/10. I am running on kali light, fully upgraded, on a toshiba satellite c55d-a5120 laptop. Thanks for the awesome product, Heath

I'm experiencing the same thing. Installed from burpsuite_pro_linux_v1_7_35.sh so I tried downgrading to .34 and that did NOT fix the problem. I think this started happening after doing a kali apt update/upgrade. I'm going to try to re-upgrade, reboot, etc. If that helps I'll update this post. Just wanted to raise the visibility on this issue since it makes Burp nearly useless. Guess I'll use ZAP until it's fixed. Also, one more detail. The raw text is really there but invisible. If you highlight the the empty raw text window, ctrl-c, then paste it into an editor it shows up (though with ^M appended to each line). ZR

I have the same problem, and it matches after updating kali linux. Thx!!

Kali upgrade didn't work for me. Please post any solution you find. I will be doing same.

Here the same issue. After a Kali update. Raw request and response tabs are empty. Running the latest 1.7.35, also did a downgrade to 1.7.34 but this did not solve it. At the Intruder tab / positions the same problem. Looks like the same control is used on more places and is broken.

Thanks for these reports. We're currently investigating the issue. Which process did you use to update Kali?

Burp User | Last updated: Jul 23, 2018 07:44AM UTC

After updating kali, i have same issue.

Burp User | Last updated: Jul 23, 2018 08:52AM UTC

I have a solution. Change the fonts in the user-properties. You are welcome.

Burp User | Last updated: Jul 23, 2018 09:17AM UTC

i've change the font and it works !! thanks putopope

Burp User | Last updated: Jul 23, 2018 09:37AM UTC

Thanks putopope! Yes, something is wrong with courier font. All the others I checked seem ok (i.e., don't display invisible). monospaced.plain isn't a bad substitution. ZR

As suggested by Putopope. The solution is to change the font in User options > Display > HTTP Message Display.

Burp User | Last updated: Jul 23, 2018 11:40AM UTC

The same for me on Kali/vmware (full updated). Have tried with all java versions possible (8-9-10) and to downgrade on .30/33/34 but nothing, will try with <27 as say above thanks.

Allan, the solution is to change the font in User options > Display > HTTP Message Display.

Same problem seems to be with this fonts, MS Sans Serif, Dingbats, Fixedsys, Courier, System, Small Fonts. Others works fine as per my test.

Burp User | Last updated: Jul 27, 2018 09:03AM UTC

Putopope, Adi, thank you very much!

Same problem here. Solved by changing the font type. Looking forward to a better solution / burpsuite patch.
