Slow loading applications with a large project file

I've noticed that when using Burp with a very large project file (150552+ requests), the applications being sent through Burp are very slow. I usually do -Xmx2g. Any ways to overcome this?

Could you define what you mean by "sent through Burp"? Are you using Burp Scanner?

I just meant the applications that were being proxied through Burp. I was using the scanner but it was paused when the applications were being slow to load using Burp.

Are you noticing this issue with one single application? Or is this occurring with all applications when Burp is dealing with a large project file? Have you tried using the platform installer version of Burp Suite? This comes bundled with it's own Java version. Burp won't normally need large amounts of memory. As your site map grows it is saved to disk – either to a project file, or a temporary file. When facing performance issues, use netstat to look at your active sockets. If there are a large number in CLOSE_WAIT state, that can cause issues too.
