burp suite beta on macOS will not close

coffeelid | Last updated: Aug 27, 2018 06:32PM UTC

Choosing Burp > Exit > yes does not close burp suite in on macOS. This forces the user to close via right clicking on the dock icon and choosing quit, which does not exit cleanly. burp version: 2.0.01 macOS version: 10.13.6

Thanks for this report. Could you send your Burp diagnostics to support@portswigger.net (Help > Diagnostics). Thanks.

Seeing similar behavior on 1.7.33 & 1.7.37 macOS: 10.13.6 I can close the application via the "Burp Suite Professional" menu > Quit Burp Suite Professional (which is the equivalent of cmd+Q). Doing this will prompt you with "This will close all Burp windows - are you sure you want to exit?" Clicking Yes will prompt you again with "Are you sure you want to exit?" Click Yes again will then close the application. However, upon next startup of Burp, a warning notification window will appear: "Your temporary derectory contains the following folders which appear to have been previously generated by Burp. Would you like to delete these?"

Hi Marcel, It's a known issue that Burp leaves a few temporary files behind. This should not normally be harmful. It's difficult to fix as we use memory mapped files and the Java API doesn't have a mechanism to force these to close. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.
